ROGER AKERS

Roger Allen Akers, 71, of Lafayette, passed away surrounded by his loving family at 1:16 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, in Franciscan Health Lafayette East Hospital.

He was born January 18, 1955, in Clinton, the son of the late Robert L. and Phyllis J. (Clark) Akers. Roger was raised in Rockville and graduated from Rockville High School in 1973. He married Karen J. Simms in Lafayette, February 22, 1975, she survives.

Visitation was held Wednesday, June 3, today, from 6 -8 p.m. at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. The funeral was held Thursday, June 4 at 1 p.m., with Pastor Nate Chambers officiating. Burial followed at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, with graveside Military Honors by Crawfordsville American Legion #72 Post Honor Guard. Memorial contributions in Roger’s memory are preferred to the Veterans Memorial Park at the Crawfordsville American Legion Grounds.
