Salvation Army Raising Funds Towards Match

The Salvation Army of Parke County is excited to announce that a donor is generously providing matching dollars to double gifts dropped into Red Kettles the week before Christmas. Starting on Saturday, December 17 and continuing through Friday, December 23, cash donations up to $2,000 will be matched dollar for dollar.

“It is their hope that these funds will encourage others to give generously in Parke County. Their desire is to help their neighbors in need have a better Christmas and new year by helping to prevent homelessness or by providing food or clothing,” said Nancy Wolfe, Service Extension Coordinator for The Salvation Army in Parke County. “This community has shown that they are givers and love this community. Neighbors always step-up to the plate to help those in need.”

In addition to crisis assistance that provides for basic necessities like food, shelter, or healthcare, the Parke County Salvation Army Advisory Board coordinates donations of books to pre-schools, school supplies and backpacks for students, emergency disaster services training, and extra Christmas assistance to those who needed help this year.”

The donor wants to encourage and inspire others to help the donations to go even further, so they asked that it be used to challenge the community to support The Salvation Army in Parke County at the Red Kettles at Christmas and legacy gifts left in their wills. This support helps The Salvation Army continue to meet the needs of the community both today and in the future.

Shoppers looking for the Red Kettle on December 17-23 will also be able to find bell ringers at the IGA in Rockville. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this holiday season is invited to call David at (765) 592-0906 and find a date, and time that works for their schedule. The Salvation Army is focused on keeping both volunteers and donors safe and healthy with new safety protocols that include regularly sanitizing the kettle equipment and using PPE. The Salvation Army of Parke County has a goal of raising $10,000 this year through the iconic Red Kettles located throughout Parke County. Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given.
