NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED RATES AND CHARGES OF

THE TOWN OF PERRYSVILLE, INDIANA WATERWORKS UTILITY

Property owners, ratepayers and other interested parties in or served or to be served by the waterworks of the Town of Perrysville, Indiana (“Town”) are hereby notified that a public hearing will be held by the Town Council of the Town, at the American Legion Post, 197 Adams Street, Perrysville, Indiana 47974, commencing at 7:00 p.m. on September 8, 2025. The purpose of the hearing is to consider an increase in the monthly water rates for the users of the Town waterworks. At the hearing, interested persons may be heard concerning the water rates and charges. The proposed ordinance, which was introduced by the Town Council at its meeting on August 4, 2025, will be effective as soon as practicable.

At the hearing, any property owners, ratepayers, or anyone else interested in the proceedings may appear and be heard concerning the proposed rates and charges. A copy of the Ordinance may be examined in the office of the Town’s Clerk-Treasurer, 132 West Main Street, Perrysville, Indiana 47974 during normal business hours and will be available at the public hearing, which reads as follows:

 

This increased Rates and Charges shall go into effect in a series of phases. Phase I rates will be in full force and effect for bills issued to customers effective as soon as practicable. The rates identified as Phase II will go into full force and effect on July 1, 2026. Any rates and charges not identified with a phase are effective immediately.

  • Collection of Deferred Charges:

All bills shall be due and payable upon receipt. Bills unpaid 20 days following the billing date shall include a collection charge of 10% on the unpaid fees for water usage. Water service will be disconnected if account is delinquent for 2 months and 15 days.

 

  • Water Hydrant Rental Fee:

 

The Town of Perrysville will pay the Perrysville Water Works a rental fee of $366.79 per fire hydrant per year for Phase I and $582.66 per fire hydrant per year for Phase II. The rental fee will be paid in two equal payments due in the month of June and in the month of December of each year.

 

Following the adoption of the ordinance, users located outside the Perrysville corporate boundaries may be entitled to petition the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission under IC 8-1.5-3-8.3 to review and adjust rates and charges imposed on the users if a petition under IC 8-1.5-3-8.2 or under IC 36-9-23-26.1 with respect to the ordinance has not been filed.

 

On September 8, 2025, the Town Council shall consider, and may take action on, the proposed ordinance.
