Legal Notice – Parke County, Rockille Police Department

ROCKVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT VIDEO COPYING FEE SCHEDULE ORDINANCE 2024-07

 

WHEREAS, the Rockville Town Council is aware of the need for access by the public to recorded public safety services provided by the Rockville Police Department, i.e. body camera footage and similar recording device footage; and

 

WHEREAS, the Rockville Police Department is a public agency and I.C. 5-14-3-8 governs the charging of copying fees by public agencies in the State of Indiana.

 

WHEREASE, I.C. 5-14-3-8 allows for the charging of copying fees for law enforcement recordings not to exceed $150 per recording or the direct cost incurred.

 

WHEREAS, the Rockville Town Council has been advised by the Rockville Police Chief of the need to adopt copying fees for body cameras and other recording device footage in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act and subpoenaed information in accordance

with Indiana law, with said charges being consistent with I.C. 5-14-3-8.

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF ROCKVILLE, INDIANA:

  1. That a copying fee of $150 or the agency’s direct cost of supplying the information in that form, per camera or recording device shall be assessed.

UNANIMOUS APPROVAL of all council members present on September 30, 2024, to review the Ordinance on the same day and meeting as introduced.
