Hot Dog Cart A Hot Topic As Rockville Council Seeks To Impose Regulations, Permit Fees

A proposed ordinance for regulating food truck vendors within town limits was a hot-button issue at the Rockville Town Council meeting, Monday, June 8.

Local resident Gary Smith and his wife Susan Smith, own and operate the Covered Dogs food truck; he had come to the town’s Council previously to gain permission to set up his hot dog cart a few times per week during the warmer months. He was previously given guidelines about where to set up, and he was asked to get permission from private commercial property owners while the town explored regulatory ordinances on food vendors outside of festival times.
