EVELYN A. NEWNUM

Evelyn Aileen Newnum, 94, of Rockville, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Clinton Gardens.

She was born March 20, 1932, in Lodi, to the late Charles S. “Shike” and Lucille (Marshall) Smith. Her husband of 52 years, James R. “Bob” Newnum, whom she married November 4, 1950, preceded her in death August 15, 2002.

In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes there will be a graveside service for family and close friends at 3 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Rush Creek Cemetery near Tangier, with Pastor Tim Henderson officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Friday at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville. Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL  60601 in her memory.
