Rockville’s Monday, June 3 Town Council meeting opened with Dylan Lambermont of Wessler Engineering presenting the Regional Wastewater District Resolution 2024-03 for approval. He said the resolution of the three communities involved will show support for the project and then it will go to the county level later this month. Council members approved a motion for the resolution.
Clerk-Treasurer Brandy Asher presented a request for a $3,700 contribution from the town to go toward window replacement at the Depot. Councilman Parke Swaim said, “It is in the Maintenance Agreement with PCI, Inc. to do routine maintenance of the building.” However, Swaim did feel it was a goodwill gesture between the two entities since the Town of Rockville owns the property. He made a motion which was approved.
Asher presented claims in the amounts of $923,251 (#5 payout to B & T for the OCRA project is $634,000 of that amount) and end-of-month claims in the amount of $79,316; minutes from April 1 and 15, May 6 and 20 meetings; and adjustments in the amount of $464 for approval; all motions carried.
Rockville’s Assistant Chief of Police, Ian Redman presented the department report as follows:
Forty-eight ECWS entries, which included three felonies, eight misdemeanors, 10 infractions, four ordinance violations, and 23 warnings. He noted that this was comparable to the previous year. Redman said Chief Bill McMichael had completed his Ground Defensive Tactics Instructor course and also requested permission to look into and apply for a USDA grant to replace the 2016 Ford Explorer which has over 90,000 miles. Council approved a motion for the department to move forward with the grant application.
Redman told council members he had done a walk-through of the new department location with the contractor, and it had gone well. He also gave members quotes for the camera equipment and was expecting more. One quote was for $12,000. He said this is the cost for one camera in the interview room but was comparable to what the Parke County Sheriff’s Department spent per camera when replacing two.
Utility superintendent Doug Gordon informed members of two water leaks which were fixed. He also said the storm line on Beadle Street is nearly complete.
