Parke Extension Offers Special Program

The Parke County Extension Office, in partnership with Thrive West Central, will present the informational program Dementia Friends Thursday, November 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the Extension Office. This program will help you be friend to people living with dementia and their caregivers.
Dementia Friends is a 45 minute to 1-hour informational program.
It began as a program in the U.K. and has spread to the U.S. and other countries. Indiana is the tenth state in the U.S. to begin a Dementia Friends program.
The session is designed to give basic information, reviews normal aging vs. dementia, and gives information about communication and support tips as well as how to support caregivers.
Participants receive a certificate that says “I’m a Dementia Friend” that they can display in their office or place of business.
