Honoring Those Who Served

HONORING THOSE WHO SERVED. Crowds gathered for the dedication of the Andrew Ray Veterans Memorial at Beechwood Park, Monday, November 11. This served as a pivotal part of Rockville’s 2024 Bicentennial year. As you can see here, a flag for each branch of the military hangs high above the more than 300 engraved pavers with names of service men and women. The event paid special tribute to those who have served our great nation. Ella Lacy opened the event with a tribute by the Honor Guard, followed by the singing of our national anthem, followed by thank you speeches from Daniel Jenson-VFW Commander, Jeff Stevens and Rockville Town Board President Dave Brown. Pastor Keith McIntyre closed with prayer. Folks unable to attend are encouraged to come and see the new addition to the Town of Rockville. Among those recognized for making this memorial come to fruition were: VFW, American Legion AM Vets, Creative Concrete Co., Decorative Paving Co., Off Duty Flag Poles, City Welding, Polar Brick Co., Boulder Designs, G & M Ace Hardware, Rockville Utility/Fire Dept/Police Departments, Rockville Town Clerk’s Office, Rockville Town Board, Josh Sorrels and Mandi Burns.
