The most urgent news coming out of the Southwest Parke School Board meeting on February 8 is that schools will be in session this coming Monday, February 20, instead of it being a flex day.
The meeting was led by Vice President Max Case in the absence of President Darrek Davis. Other board members Mark Maden, D. J. Harkrider, and Nathan Adams were present. In initial public comments, a mother who had attended a meeting in June and requested a wrestling program be started thanked the board for approving and starting a program and noted it was attracting a large number of students. She also noted the Parke County Local Coordinating Council (LCC) has grant funds available and that the school corporation was eligible to apply for some of those funds.
