The first ever Wabash River Rumble wrestling tournament, was held Sunday, February 27 at Parke Heritage Middle School. This event was hosted and organized by the Alpha wrestling program thru the North Central Parke Schools and sponsored by Mark Vanderheyden and The Thirty-Six Saloon.

Tyler Thornton, Parke Heritage High School wrestling coach and Alpha program leader expressed, “I know the most successful wrestlers and teams started wrestling early in some kind of club or elementary program.” He continues, “I wanted to start a very accessible program so that as many kids as possible could give wrestling a try before middle school.”

Since beginning four years ago, the Alpha program for students PreK to fifth grade, has gone from 20 wrestlers to almost 70 this year.
