Honorary Tree Lighter

HONORARY TREE LIGHTER.  The Sentinel’s own Mary Jo Harney was selected as this year’s official tree lighter during the Hometown Holidays event on the downtown square Saturday, December 4. The nomination was made by Sentinel staff. “Mary Jo’s passion for her community has led her to serve countless hours in many capacities. She is a remarkable example of ordinary people doing extraordinary things with never an expectation of recognition. Her selflessness and dedication is a model of serving others we should all aspire to. She makes the world a better place through her volunteering, community service and is a local unsung hero who has helped conquer enormous tasks and obstacles for Parke County over the last 5+ decades.
