Restoration

RESTORATION. First Baptist Church of Rockville was founded in 1888. The church bell was purchased in 1890 from the McShane Bell Foundry in Baltimore, Maryland. The restoration of the bell and fabrication of the stand were done by church member/Trustee Mike Boone in 2020-21 and installed this year as a reminder of the heritage and history of the congregation. The bell was in the bell tower of the old church and moved to the side yard several decades ago. It sat outside on a stand until 18 years ago when the church on York Street was sold. It remained another 15 years in storage until this restoration. (Sentinel photo by Lisa Wood)
