Parke County Farm Receives Homestead Award

The Lennie C. Pyle Farm in Parke County recently received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award for being in operation since 1920, according to State Rep. Alan Morrison (R-Brazil) and State Sen. Phil Boots (R-Crawfordsville). Also, among the 73 family farms named were, Edward & Anna Spaeth โ€“ 1921 (Clay County) Centennial; and Harvey Fell โ€“ 1918 (Clay County) Centennial; and Henry Schlensker โ€“ 1870 (Vigo County) Centennial and Sesquicentennial Awards.

To be named a Hoosier Homestead, farms must be owned by the same familyfor more than 100 consecutive years, and consist of 20 acres or more, or produce more than $1,000 in agricultural products per year.
