Student Spotlight – Josie Bodine

Josie Bodine was excited when her new sewing machine arrived at her house recently. Josie, a sophomore at Parke Heritage High School, won the sewing machine for participating in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Convention contest last spring. This contest would have been held in Washington D.C. but was cancelled due to the pandemic.

“The contest I participated in was fashion construction,” said Josie. “I made a presentation with a poster and my plaid dress. I presented it at the state convention at Ball State University. I won a gold medal and qualified for nationals. Because of COVID, the national convention was virtual, so I sent a video of my presentation and won a silver medal.”
