Planning For COVID-19 Funding; Re-Opening Courthouse Discussed By Commissioners

A brief agenda greeted the Parke County Commissioners Monday, with most of the discussion on funding to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

The commissioners formally recognized the emergency management working group that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Department of Homeland Security) asked counties to set up to administer CARES Act (coronavirus Aid, Recovery and Economic Security) funding. The group, consisting of Sheriff Justin Cole, Ambulance Service Director Julie Lanzone, County Sanitarian Liddy Dowd-Wright and Emergency Management Director Chris O’Brien, with commissioner president Jim Meece serving as moderator, have been meeting weekly to address county responses to COVID-19 issues effecting county government.
