Riverton Parke Topples Fountain Central

The Riverton Parke boys’ basketball team defeated Fountain Central 62-44 in Wabash River Conference boys’ basketball Friday night.

Riverton Parke led 10-5 after one quarter and 20-14 at halftime. Both teams’ offenses got going in the third quarter. Riverton Parke got its lead up to 10 points for most of the period, but a three at the buzzer by the Mustangs cut the deficit to 35-27 heading to the fourth quarter. Riverton Parke opened the fourth period with a 5-0 run and eventually built its lead to 20 points by the midpoint of the fourth.

Alex Atkinson led the Riverton Parke scoring with 16 points; BJ Hopton was also in double figures with 14; Hayden Gilstrap and Pierson Barnes each had eight; and Brandon Hazzard scored seven points.

Riverton Parke also won the junior varsity game by a score of 48-46.

Riverton Parke (3-2) will play at Dugger Friday and return home to host North Putnam Saturday.
