Seeking a Tree Lighter
Once again plans are underway of the Eleventh Annual Hometown Holiday Celebration to be held the first weekend in December. With that celebration comes the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree on the historic courthouse square in Rockville which will be held Saturday, December 7 at 6 p.m.
MainStreet Rockville, sponsor of this event since the beginning, asks that you nominate someone to be the official Christmas Tree Lighter for this year. Think of someone you know whom you would like to see honored for the good work that they do, or have done, or that you feel should be so honored.
Past Christmas Tree Lighters were: Matt Kinsey, George/Margie Leamnson, Marjorie Hays, Don and Alice Hatfield, Cathy Harkrider, Sande Bemis, Debbie Skelton, Kandee Cook and Brother Don Perry.
You can send your nomination to MainStreet Rockville, P.O. Box 334, Rockville, IN 47872 or email Kim Grayless at kgrayless2@ivytech.edu before November 15. The winner will be chosen and the name announced in local newspapers, radio and on the MainStreet Rockville website. Think of someone you feel should be honored, tell MainStreet why they should be chosen and send your nomination by November 15.
The tree lighting ends a day full of activities; arrival of Santa, hot chocolate with Mrs. Claus and her Elves, along with caroling and a Nativity scene. Also planned for the day are the Elks Lodge Christmas Bazaar, The Great Santa Run and Walk 5k Race and a Gingerbread House Decorating Contest at the Covered Bridge Art Gallery along with their Annual Home Tour.
