66 in 33rd Riverton Parke Class

Riverton Parke High School will conduct its 33rd Commencement Exercises Saturday, May 25, in the high school gym, beginning at 2 p.m.
Thirty-three members of the Class of 2019 will hear from their Class President Camryn Clapp, who will welcome the guests and introduce guest speakers Valedictorian Thomas “T.J.” Rutan and Salutatorian Britany App.
Rutan is the son of Dr. Charles and Cherri Rutan of Rosedale.
He was the captain of two state title-holding academic teams, president of the National Honor Society chapter and Student Council, drum major, co-captain of the varsity cross country and track teams, as well as a member of the robotics program. He has earned the Mental Attitude Award in cross-country and Most Points Scored in Track, as well as taking third place in the District Voice of Democracy Essay Contest.
Rutan enjoys writing and arranging music in his free time and plays a variety of wind instruments. He will attend Rose-Hulman in the fall and major in electrical engineering.
App is the daughter of Kyle and Amy App from Montezuma and will be graduating with Core 40, Academic Honors and Technical Honors Diploma. She has earned Academic Honors with all A’s all four years. She plans to earn a double major at Franklin College in Biochemistry and Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience. Her goal is to pursue a career in medical research, specifically in autism.
At Riverton Parke, she has been a two-year member of the Student Council and played volleyball for six years, basketball for seven years, track for six years and bowling for one year. App has also been a volunteer at the Hillsdale Fire Department for four years and is Emergency Medical Responder Certified.
She is a member of Independent Baptist Church of Montezuma and is the Lilly Endowment Scholarship Recipient for Parke County. App has worked at Valley ProfessionalsCommunity Health Center, Raccoon Lake, Rockville Dairy Queen and Charlie’s Pizza. She was named Rosedale Strawberry Princess 2016, Parke County Fair Miss Congeniality 2016 and Miss Flame District 11B 2018.w
