AN ORDINANCE CREATING AN INFRASTRUCTURE

DEVELOPMENT ZONE

WHEREAS, Parke County, Indiana was previously designated as a Broadband Ready Community pursuant to I.C. 5-28-28.5-7 for the purpose of encouraging broadband infrastructure development, and;

WHEREAS, the Parke County Board of Commissioners desire to further encourage investment by companies in the broadband infrastructure of Parke County, Indiana, and;

WHEREAS, I.C. 6-1.1-12.5 allows for designation of an Investment Readiness Zone allowing for property tax exemptions to companies investing in infrastructure in the Investment Readiness Zone.

WHEREAS, as required by I.C. 6-1.1-12.5-4 the Parke County Board of Commissioners find as follows:

  1. Adequate eligible broadband infrastructure is not available within Parke County, Indiana;
  2. Providing a property tax exemption to a person for investing in eligible broadband infrastructure in the zone will provide:
  3. Opportunities for increased availability of broadband service, and
  4. Economic development benefits in the zone.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Parke County, Indiana that:

  1. Parke County, Indiana henceforth shall be designated as an Investment Readiness Zone pursuant to and in accordance with I.C. 6-1.1-12.5, and;
  2. Eligible broadband infrastructure located in the zone shall be exempt from property taxation pursuant to I.C. 6-1.1-12.5.

Unanimous consent of Parke County Board of Commissioners who were present on the 6th day of May 2019 to consider the ordinance on the same date as introduced.
