Parke County Girls’ Hoop Season Begins

Parke County girls’ basketball began Friday night with both county teams on the road.

Parke Heritage opened their inaugural season with a 69-52 win over North Montgomery. Taylor Dugger led the Wolves with 19 points while Kylen McMullen added 15. No other game details were available.

At Cloverdale, the Lady Panthers took an 81-28 loss from the Clovers. The hosts opened up a 22-point lead in the first quarter but the Panthers rallied for a 14-point second quarter to trail 40-22 at intermission. Cloverdale pounded in 26 third-quarter points while holding the Panthers scoreless and leading 66-22 entering the final stanza. Outscored 15-6, the Lady Panthers suffered the 53-point loss.

Grace Pharr led Riverton Parke with 11 points; Mackenzie Schermann added seven; Camryn Clapp and Caeden Bennett added three each; Britany App and Kaitlyn Fellows added two apiece.

Cloverdale also won the junior varsity contest 38-21.

The Lady Panthers host the Banks of the Wabash Classic this Thursday, playing North Vermillion in the second game; South Vermillion and Parke Heritage open the tourney at 6 p.m.
