Rockville’s Wheel House Donuts Wins In Indianapolis
Wheel House Donuts Wins “Most Creative Donuts” Prize at 2018 Indy Donut Fest
Wheel House Donuts is proud to announce that we have won the coveted “Most Creative Donuts” prize at the 2018 Indy Donut Festival! This was the first year for our family owned business to compete against some of the best donut shops in central Indiana. Two donut options were showcased at the event: the WH D&G as our “savory” option and our Wheel House Delight for the “sweet” category.
The WH D&G: Our unique twist on traditional biscuits and gravy combined our fresh vanilla cake donuts with spicy chorizo sausage gravy. “Everyone who tried it, loved it! The sweet donut with the savory spicy gravy really took the B&G concept to the next level,” said Craig Waugh, co-owner of Wheel House Donuts.
The Wheel House Delight: This combined our vanilla cake donut with the sweet goodness of from-scratch bourbon caramel pecan sauce. This Wheel House Donuts original was created through countless hours of experimentation by our donut & pastry chef, Brie Potts, specifically for the Indy Donut Festival.
“The sold-out crowd of approximately 700 paid attendees were almost evenly split between the sweet and savory choices…we had lines around the block,” said Valerie Vezey with a laugh, co-owner of Wheel House Donuts. In the end, the creativity of our team from Wheel House Donuts rose to the top for the “Most Creative Donut” prize. “This is a very proud moment for our team. Everyone played a part in our first donut competition victory,” said Sarah Plotkin, manager.
We are incredibly grateful to the welcoming Rockville community for its continued support, and are looking forward to taking part in the Covered Bridge festival once again! The event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and funds raised from the yearly event support cancer research and advocacy.
