Wolves Win First Home Game Over Covington Trojans 52-19

Parke Heritage took their record to 2-0 with a 52-19 win over Covington in the Wolves’ home-opener last Friday.

The teams traded touchdowns in the opening segment and the score was tied 14-14 at the first break. The Wolves added two more scores in the second period while holding the Trojans to five points, leading 28-19 at intermission. The Wolves added 24 more points in the third to seal the final margin.

Logan White was 16-of-25 passing for 188 yards and a touchdown, and threw one interception; Jack Roberts made both of the passes he threw in relief for 16 yards. Noble Johnson had seven catches for 95 yards and a touchdown; Austin Petrillo caught five for 56 yards and Jaylen Crull had two receptions for 12 yards.

White carried the ball seven times for 48 yards and two touchdowns; Trevor Rapp had nine carries for 42 yards and a score; Clay Barker had four carries for 11 yards and a touchdown; Petrillo took a kick-off return and ran it back 94 yards for a touchdown. Cole Jones had a fumble recovery for another touchdown.

On defense, the Wolves had six takeaways, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions against the Trojans.

For Covington, Colton Brown threw seven-of-17 for 70 yards and was picked off twice, while Alan Karrfalt was two-for-four for four yards and an interception. Brown rushed 17 times for 110 yards and a touchdown, while Caleb Elmore had 17 carries for 34 yards and a score.

The Wolves, (2-0 and 2-0) who broke into this week’s coaches’ poll at #10, will visit third-ranked North Central at Farmersburg (2-0) this Friday. Covington plays host to North Vermillion.
